The library in CÓFLA holds in the region of 50,000 published works relating to the key areas of interest of the late Cardinal. There are specialist collections on Irish History and on Irish Sport, including a large section of Gaelic games histories and an extensive collection of Gaelic games match programmes. There are more than two thousand published works in the Irish language including novels, poetry and criticism and a large collection of church and parish histories both from Ireland and from the diaspora communities around the world. The library has also a number of special collections including the libraries of Mr Jim Blayney of Lurgan, Co Armagh, An tAth Anraí Mac Giolla Chomhaill, Doire/ Dún Geanainn and the Quaker collection of Mr Ross Chapman of Newry.

The library holdings generally mirror the themes contained in the archives and is available to use as a reference collection only on site. The library is house in a purpose-built environment rather than of public shelving, however the catalogue can be accessed below and items may be requested for consultation in the library reading room.
